What is Eau de Parfum?
per fumus = through smoke
Eau de Parfum (EdP) is the most popular concentration for perfumes these days, one of the main reasons is the convenience and popularity of using spray bottles which perfectly give the right amount of scent.
Although EdP can usually range from 10 to 20% of oils in alcohol, the average percentage is 15%. This also depends, of course, on the origin of ingredients. Synthetic molecules have a stronger odor, thus less can be used in that case. As for natural plant based oils, they are much softer, closer to skin and last just as much as we need. The concentration may also vary and very often more of those oils are used to make them last longer on skin, although this quality is achieved by a proper formula too.
EdP is perfect for everyday use and purse sprays have become the best option for those wishing to carry their signature scent with them. But as you may guess, eau de parfum does not give us the full spectrum of the ritual women and men used to have when splash bottles were more popular. Besides the problem with plastic and non-recyclable parts of pumps/caps still exists. And if we talk only about natural perfumes, eau de parfum is there due to the demand of consumers.
We call Kamila Aubre fragrances simply ‘perfumes’ or ‘parfums’ since they are much closer to extraits de parfum than eaux de parfum due to botanical formulas focusing on heart and base notes which gives them their unique complexity. We use authentic heavy glass flacons made in France which are infinitely reusable and refillable.
